Registration Information

2024-2025 MVI Player Registration

Upon the completion of the Moundsview Irondale Youth Hockey registration each player will be registered for the 2024 - 2025 hockey season.*

*This  includes the October evaluation/tryouts for the season.

EVALUATION AND TRYOUT OPTIONS

The deadline to register your child to participate in the tryout or evaluation process was 11:59 PM, August 15. Your player  may still register for the season after this date, but they are no longer eligible to participate the tryout or evaluation process.

Tryout registration prior to August 12  is $95 with a $30 Tryout Fee Discount off of the $125 Tryout Fee.

After August 12, there will no longer be a discount applied and players will be charged $125 to register for tryouts.

There is NO FEE to participate in the Mite Eval (2,3,4)/8U Eval process.

Fees

The 'Registration Fee' and the 'Tryout Fee' will be due at the time of registration - all past due accounts must be paid in full before a player is allowed to register.  Following player evaluations and tryouts, players will be assessed a fee for their 'Level of Play'. The 'Level of Play' fee will be due October 15.

Families have two payment options:

  1. One lump sum on October 15.
  2. Five monthly installments beginning on October 15.

Players will not be allowed on the ice for team play until the first payment is made.

At the end of the season if team fees exceed or team fees are less than the 'Level of Play' fees paid by families; families will be refunded or assessed the difference.

The Board establishes the registration fees as part of the annual budgeting process each season. Fees are based on projected operating costs for the upcoming year. All players must be registered with USA Hockey and with MVI prior to taking the ice in MVI sponsored events (warm-up ice, tryouts, practices/training, and games).

If you have a need for financial assistance please email president@mvihockey.org to request our financial assistance form that will need to be completed.

2024 - 2025 Equipment

BLACK helmets, BLACK breezers and BLACK gloves will be required for all traveling hockey players. Mites/8Us are encouraged to wear BLACK equipment as well.  Neck guards and mouth guards are required to be on the ice effective August 1, 2024.

What about Goalies?

School Attendance Waivers

Youth hockey in Minnesota is based upon the Home address of the player.  If your home address is outside the 621 school district boundaries, you need to obtain a waiver from your Home Association. This can be done when entering your player's first Squirt/10U hockey season.

24-25 Youth Rules and Regulation Change

With the exception of Junior Gold and 19U Players, prior to a player’s first year of Squirts or 10U a Mandatory Waiver shall be granted to any player in good standing other than a Mite or 8U and under, without conditions except as described below, who wishes to participate in the Minnesota Hockey association whose boundaries incorporate the school in which the player is enrolled and is attending, as follows:

  • Players waived based on school choice shall be deemed to be members of their Association of School Attendance and shall have full rights and privileges accorded to all members of that association, including voting rights. (Exception – see "Changing Schools" below.)
  • Players receiving a waiver based on school attendance shall register with their Association of School Attendance for as long as they continue to attend that school (including the first year). If they stop attending school in that association's area, they revert back to their Association of Residence for participation or waiver.
  • If a player has obtained a waiver based on this section, they shall be allowed to continue to play with their Association of School Attendance. If a player has not obtained a waiver based on school attendance prior to being eligible for Squirts or 10U, they may only play outside of their Association of Residence by obtaining a discretionary waiver.
  • Any player granted a school-based waiver prior to the changes adopted by Minnesota Hockey at the January 2024 meeting will be allowed to continue to play in the association of school attendance where the player attended at the time of receipt of the waiver.

MVIYHA includes St. Anthony Village School District 282.

It is the families responsibility to obtain the waiver and provide it to the registration coordinator. If a waiver is not in place, they will not be allowed to participate.

The steps are as follows:

  • Home Association President signs school waiver
  • Receiving Association President signs the school waiver
  • Home Association District Director signs waiver
  • Receiving Association District Director sign waiver
